Despite programs like Ohio State, USC, Texas, and other powers canceling their traditional spring games one year ago, Penn State will continue its spring exhibition in 2026. But it may look different than years before.
Penn State football announced on Monday that the 2026 Blue-White Weekend will commence on Saturday, April 25.
The program will announce further details as the day approaches.
One reason teams were canceling their spring games was because of the spring transfer portal window happening around the same time. There is no spring portal window this year.
More than 60,000 fans attended Penn State’s Blue-White game last season, and is an important day for the area in many respects. Last year’s game was a “non-traditional” format and may continue to be the way the program approaches it.
Head coach Matt Campbell spoke earlier this month about the importance of the event.
“Pat [Kraft] and I are deciding how we’ll do the Blue and White game and what that’ll look like,” Campbell said. “We’ll certainly do something.”
The game is an opportunity for new players to suit up inside Beaver Stadium for the first time in a game-like atmosphere.
“I think it’s really important for our kids to be in that stadium with our fans,” Campbell said. “I don’t want the first time Rocco Becht throws a pass [it’s] his first game in there with fans. I think it’s really important for this team to be able to get out there.”
Beaver Stadium remains under construction during the revitalization period and is currently without upper bleachers on the press box side, after the temporary ones were removed.
Penn State enters the Campbell era with many new faces, including Becht in his final season of eligibility, looking to be the quarterback that gets Penn State over the final humps this century.
