Less than two weeks after Noah Pauley left Penn State for the Green Bay Packers, the program is set to hire its next receivers coach.
Matt Zenitz of 247Sports first reported that Penn State would be hiring Kashif Moore for the position.
Moore, like Pauley, had just started a new job, going with Jim Mora Jr. to Colorado State after three seasons at UConn. While in Storrs, Moore helped UConn receiver Skyler Bell become a Biletnikoff Award finalist this past season. Bell ended the year with 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns on 101 receptions.
That’s the type of production that has been missing from Penn State’s WR room over the past several years.
The last Penn State receiver to eclipse 1,000 yards was Jahan Dotson in 2021.
During James Franklin’s last three seasons, the receivers room was cited as a big reason why Penn State couldn’t get to a national championship game (2023, ‘24) and, this past season, was cited as a reason why the year went sideways to the point where Franklin was fired Oct. 12.
Moore will have plenty of talent to work with in 2026, coming in the form of returning players (Koby Howard, Lyrick Samuel) and transfers (Chase Sowell, Brett Eskildsen from Iowa State).
Before coaching at UConn, Moore was the wide receivers coach at Albany, giving him a vague Penn State connection since Albany’s coach, Greg Gattuso, was a former Penn State captain and coached on the staff this season as a defensive analyst. Here’s the full file on Moore.
