The Nittany Lions looked to go 2-0 in their West Coast road swing as they played Oregon this afternoon in Eugene, but they did not accomplish their mission falling to the Ducks, 83-72.

Both teams started the game a little sluggish trying to find their stride and at the first media timeout (15:29) it was only a 6-4 score in favor of the Ducks. Penn State’s, Freddie Dilione V., had all four of PSU’s points.

After the timeout, Penn State came out with some rhythm and other players were getting involved.

Then, Dezdrick Lindsay, came out firing after the timeout and made two three-pointers to give the Ducks the lead 16-15 (11:16).

Kayden Mingo, though, had an answer for any Ducks’ score and was 4-of-4 from the field with drives to the hoop (9:18).

With (6:39) left in the first half, it was now Oregon going on a run and taking the lead, 27-23. Oregon’s leading scorer, Nate Bittle, led this run with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting and was 2-for-2 from three-point range.

The score at half was Oregon 38 Penn State 32.

Mingo had 11 points for the Blue & White and Bittle for the Ducks was leading all scorers with 12 points.

To start the second half, Penn State came out of the locker room on a 4-0 run to trim the Ducks’ lead to two, but Takai Simpkins answered this mini-run with a three-point make and at the (18:48) mark it was Oregon 41 PSU 36.

The Nittany Lions’, Dominick Stewart, then banged in a three of his own and with (17:37) left in the game it was Oregon over Penn State 44-41.

At the first media timeout of the second half (15:52), it was Penn State inching closer to Oregon, 46-43.
