INDIANAPOLIS– This 2025 season didn’t go the way Penn State RB Nicholas Singleton wanted, and neither has the offseason.
When working out at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, Singleton broke his foot, which wrecked his chances of working out at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
Singleton told reporters Friday afternoon that he’s unlikely to compete at Penn State’s Pro Day, either, which is scheduled for March 18.
He expects to be fully healed by the draft in late April.
Although Singleton isn’t happy about not being able to work out, he’s still finding things about the Combine to enjoy.
“It’s been really good,” Singleton said. “Obviously, I’m upset I’m not really doing anything right now, but at the same time, I’m enjoying the process here. At the Combine, some of my teammates are here. So I’m just enjoying the process.
By the end of his career, Singleton was fourth all-time on the school’s rushing list and accomplished this while splitting carries with Kaytron Allen for all four years.
Singleton also holds the school record for rushing touchdowns (45) and total touchdowns (54), breaking both marks, previously held by Saquon Barkley, during his last game against Rutgers in late November.Â
Had everything gone according to plan, Singleton would have ended his senior year with a national championship.
Instead, Penn State lost six games in a row, which led to coach James Franklin’s firing.
The past five months have reinforced to Singleton that not everything will go according to plan, and that’s a lesson he’s going to take with him to the next level.
“Just going through adversity, man,” he said. “Everything’s not going to go your way. You just have to keep your head down, stay humble, just rally around people who are supporting you. So I’m just enjoying the process.
