A key part of Penn State’s secondary will return in 2026.
On Thursday, sophomore safety Dejuan Lane announced that he is coming back to Penn State for his junior campaign.
“Rather drown with my guys before I ever jump ship #weare 🦁💙,” Lane said on social media.
The 6-foot-2, 206-pound safety from Jessup, Maryland, played his best game of the season against Clemson in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl.
Lane made five tackles and recorded one pass breakup and one pass defended against Cade Klubnik in PSU’s 22-10 victory at Yankee Stadium.
In 13 games, Lane totaled 29 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one sack – ranked seventh best defender by Pro Football Focus with a 74.6 overall defensive grade.
Lane will likely be a key starter in Penn State’s secondary for Matt Campbell’s first season in Happy Valley.
The transfer portal opens on Friday and will remain open for a single 15-day window, concluding on January 16. Former top recruits and key contributors Luke Reynolds and Ethan Grunkemeyer reportedly will enter the transfer portal this weekend.
