New Penn State coach Matt Campbell, has already turned heads in the recruiting department since his hiring Dec. 8.
Three Class of 2026 prospects that had been signed to Iowa State have already chosen to follow Campbell to State College. They are Tyrell Chapman, a three-star defensive back from Lincoln, Nebraska, Lucas Tenbrock, a 6′-6,” 220-pound punter from St. Charles, Illinois and who is the No. 5 ranked high school punter in the country, per 247Sports, and quarterback Kase Evans, from Lexington, Texas.
Now, Penn State might be getting a player that had his commitment to a Big Ten school, but isn’t signed yet.
Per Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong, Samson Gash, a 6′-0,” 180 lb. receiver from Novi, Michigan, has Penn State as a possible suitor for him next year.
Gash, who plays for Detroit Catholic Central, is ranked the No. 55 wide receiver in the country and the No. 6 overall player in Michigan, per 247Sports. After his junior season for the Shamrocks, he registered 42 catches for 731 yards, averaging 17.4 yards per catch.
Gash is a Penn State legacy.
His father, Sam, played fullback for Penn State from 1987-1991 and was drafted by the New England Patriots in the eighth round of the 1992 NFL Draft. He also played fullback for the Bills (1998-99) and Ravens (2000-02) and won Super Bowl XXXV with the Ravens. Gash was the first fullback ever selected to the Pro Bowl (1999) without a regular season carry.
Samson Gash also has Georgia and Iowa State as possible suitors for him next season, per Wiltfong.
