Penn State football’s defensive line depth took another hit as redshirt freshman defensive end Jaylen Harvey is set to enter the transfer portal, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Harvey will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Harvey, a former four-star recruit out of Quince Orchard High School in Maryland, appeared in 15 games over two seasons with the Nittany Lions. He recorded a pair of tackles and his first career sack in Penn State’s 22–10 victory over Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl, a moment that capped his most active stretch of play in Happy Valley.
The 6-foot-2, 250-pound edge rusher saw his largest role during the 2025 season, logging 159 defensive snaps. In that limited but meaningful workload, Harvey generated consistent disruption, finishing with 91 pass rushing snaps, nine pressures, and eight quarterback hits, numbers that reflect his quick first step and developing pass-rush upside.
Harvey becomes the second Quince Orchard product to enter the portal this cycle, joining defensive tackle Xavier Gilliam. Their departures continue a trend of young defensive linemen seeking expanded opportunities elsewhere as Penn State reshapes its front under a new staff.
With three years left to play, Harvey should draw interest as a developmental edge prospect with Power Five experience and room to grow in a more defined role.
