In recruiting news, Penn State has lost one of the top players left in its Class of 2026.
Sunday afternoon, Kevin Brown announced that he has de-committed from Penn State after being committed for more than a year.
This one hurts more than most.
247Sports has Brown as the No. 61 overall player in the country, along with the No. 6 offensive tackle and No. 2 player in PA from his class.
Brown also has offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Pitt, Ohio State, Syracuse, Tennessee, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
Of all of those schools, the last one appears to be the favorite.
Steve Wiltfong of Rivals.com has logged a prediction for Brown to commit to WVU.
Brown said in an interview with Rivals that he’s smitten with WVU.
“WVU was clear,” Brown said.
“They absolutely believe in me. I can see my style and abilities fitting in there at right tackle. I like all their staff and the way coach (Rich Rodriguez) runs things.”
Brown also said he was still waiting to see what Penn State did in its coaching search.
“Still waiting to see what PSU does,” Brown said. “I didn’t want to be in this position but I’m forced to genuinely look at other good options now.”
The “position” Brown referred to, of course, was created when Penn State fired James Franklin Oct. 12. Everybody knew when Franklin was fired that people would de-commit, and that is indeed what’s happening.
There are now 13 players committed to Penn State’s 2026 Class.
