Penn State Hockey Forward Aiden Fink Out for ‘Foreseeable Future’

Forward Aiden Fink had back-to-back multipoint performances against Michigan - Penn State Athletics

Penn State hockey coach Guy Gadowsky announced Monday that forward Aiden Fink will be out for the “foreseeable future” due to an upper-body injury.

“He has an upper-body injury. He will be out for the foreseeable future. He will be back,” Gadowsky said during his weekly media availability.

Fink suffered the injury during the second period of Thursday’s game against Ohio State at Value City Arena in Columbus. He was hit by Buckeyes forward Riley Thompson, fell to the ice, and briefly returned to play before appearing immobilized and heading back to the locker room.

He was later seen in the tunnel in street clothes with his arm wrapped in ice.

The loss of Fink is a significant setback for No. 3 Penn State ahead of its highly anticipated two-game series against No. 1 Michigan State at Munn Ice Arena beginning Friday.

Fink set Penn State single-season records last year for goals (23), assists (30), and points (53), and was on pace to break Alex Limoges’ program mark for fewest career games to reach 100 career points.

This season, Fink had been skating primarily on a line with Gavin McKenna, Ben Schoen, and Shea Van Olm.
