The next game for the 4-0 Penn State men’s basketball team is the Harvard Crimson. This game is slated for Wednesday, November 19 with a 6:30 P.M. tipoff inside the Bryce Jordan Center.
The Crimson will come into State College with a 4-1 record. They have wins against MIT (79-50), New Hampshire (86-75), Army (75-52) and Marist (56-54). Their only loss came against Northeastern (60-77).
Competing in the Ivy League, Harvard went 12-15 last season with a conference record of 7-7.
They are led by head coach Tommy Amaker who enters his 19th season at the helm.
Just like Penn State, Harvard currently has four players averaging double-digits in points. Leading the Crimson is Chandler Pigge, a 6′-5″ senior guard averaging 15.8 ppg and 3.6 apg. He is followed by 6′-5″ sophomore guard, Robert Hinton, who is averaging 13.2 ppg. Then 6′-4″ sophomore guard, Tey Barbour, is averaging 11.4 ppg. and 5.4 rpg. and 6′-7″ junior forward, Thomas Batties II, is averaging 10.8 ppg.
Penn State is coming off a big victory in Philadelphia beating the La Salle Explorers, 83-69. They are off to a 4-0 start to the season for the fourth-straight year and fifth time in the last seven seasons.
Freshman Melih Tunca is leading the way averaging 15.5 ppg. Fellow freshman Kayden Mingo is averaging 15.3 ppg., 5.5 rpg. and 4.8 apg. Followed by redshirt junior guard, Freddie Dilione V., who is averaging 12.3 ppg. and sophomore guard, Dominick Stewart, is at 10.5 ppg.
Penn State basketball is one of just three schools in Division 1 to have two freshmen averaging 15 or more points per game through games Nov. 17. The Nittany Lions’ bench points per game (39.00) leads the Big Ten and ranks 32nd in the country and has outscored their opponents by an amazing total of 156-39 through four games this season.
