Penn State Basketball: Up Next, The Boston Terriers

The Penn State men’s basketball team is looking to rebound after a tough first loss against Providence Saturday night. Providence beat Penn State 77-65, in a hard-fought battle to the end.

5-1 Penn State will welcome the Boston Terriers to town Tuesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. inside the Bryce Jordan Center.

Boston comes to Happy Valley with a 3-3 record.

They’re coming off a big 75-74 win against Harvard in the same tournament Penn State played in over the weekend at the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase in Uncasville, CT. Penn State won a nail-biter against Harvard November 19, 84-80.

Boston’s other two wins this season are against Northeastern (76-75 OT) and Brown (90-77).

Their defeats were against Northwestern (52-76), Merrimack (79-91) and Columbia (49-54).

The Terriers are led by 7′-0″ sophomore FIBA forward Ben Defty, who is averaging 13.8 ppg. and 6.7 rpg. He is followed by 6′-5″ junior guard Michael Mcnair, who averages 13.0 ppg., 4.0 rpg., 3.1 apg. and 2.0 spg. Chance Gladden is a 6′-4″ freshman guard averaging 12.3 ppg., 4 rpg. and 4 apg. and Sam Hughes is a 6′-6″ freshman forward averaging 11.0 ppg. and 3 rpg.

The Nittany Lions come into Tuesday night with freshman Kayden Mingo leading the way averaging 14.5 ppg. 4.3 rpg. and 4.1 apg. Redshirt junior, Freddie Dilione, is coming off a career-high 22 points against Providence and has been electric for Penn State all season. He is averaging 14.0 ppg. with 4.2 rpg. Freshman, Melih Tunca, is averaging 13.8 ppg. and 3.6 apg.
