It’s been more than two months since Penn State won a football game, and the good news is, Michigan State has gone the same amount of time without a win.
For Penn State, this six-game losing streak led to the firing of James Franklin, and for Michigan State, it seems likely that Jonathan Smith will be fired at the end of the year.
So one fanbase will be very relieved after Saturday’s game, and the other will continue to lament on why things are the way they are.
Michigan State has home field advantage, and Penn State has the advantage of almost knocking off No. 2 Indiana seven days ago.
Will Penn State build off that momentum?
LAND GRANT TIME

The most beautiful trophy in sports is on the line today: The Land Grant Trophy. That trophy hasn’t been awarded since November 2023, and Penn State was the winner. Penn State also won the trophy in 2022. But the last time the game was played in East Lansing, Michigan State prevailed, 30-27, in a game best-remembered for the snow.
Penn State and Michigan State have played 28 times since PSU joined the Big Ten in 1993. PSU has won 18 of those games, including four of the last five.
“It’s very important that we maintain control of the Land Grant Trophy,” interim coach Terry Smith told reporters Wednesday.
