Penn State’s prized jewel in the Class of 2027, five-star running back Kemon Spell from McKeesport (McKeesport, PA) is exploring his college options, one coming from the SEC.
The University of Georgia is the latest powerhouse to offer Spell, which the junior running back took to X to celebrate the offer. Spell committed to Penn State back in August 2024 and has reaffirmed his commitment a few times since, including talking to our Joe Smeltzer back in May.
“Oh, I’m like a thousand percent locked in,” Spell told Nittany Sports Now. “When I was talking to Ohio State, they knew I was locked in with Penn State, and that I shut down my recruitment. And I let them know that I did that.”
In September, Spell once against reaffirmed his Penn State commitment simply stating “I am staying,” which became a viral sign during ESPN’s College Game Day visit September 27 when Oregon visited Happy Valley.
Georgia is no stranger to getting top Pennsylvania athletes.
Georgia’s success in the Keystone State was demonstrated by landing two Top 5 recruits in the Class of 2017 in running back De’Andre Swift, who was the No. 1 recruit that year, and No. 5 overall prospect in cornerback Mark Webb.
Since that haul, Georgia was able to secure Class of 2023 wide receiver Zeed Haynes, who was rated the No. 2 Pennsylvania recruit.
Spell’s stock has soared since his monster opening week performance against Woodland Hills (Turtle Creek, PA) when the running back had 13 carries 293 yards and five total touchdowns.
On the day, Spell had 390 total all purpose yards.
Spell has visited Ohio State, will be at Notre Dame when they play USC next week, and is considering Florida State, Alabama, and Tennessee.
