Penn State Class of 2026 commit Matt Sieg has made up his mind on when he plans to enroll.
Sieg told Nittany Sports Now in an exclusive interview Monday afternoon at Fort Cherry High School that he plans to enroll in the winter.
He told NSN that, although it will be hard to leave his lifelong friends, at the end of the day, learning more about how Penn State operates in the winter will be beneficial.
WHAT SIEG SAID

Penn State commit Matt Sieg
“It’s going to be tough to leave all my teammates that I’ve played all the sports with over the years. But I’m going to play football. So getting up there for kind of a head start will be big for me. And you know, learning the defense, learning how things operate. I think that will be good before training camp in the fall.”
MATT OF ALL TRADES
The decision to leave school early might have been more difficult for Sieg than it is for a lot of players.
Although many Penn State commits play more than one sport, not many compete in four.
Along with starring in football at Fort Cherry, Sieg excels in basketball, baseball and track.
So he’ll be missing 75% of his athletic season by enrolling early. With that said, Sieg’s best sport is football, and he’s one of the top players in Pennsylvania.
247Sports has Sieg as the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania, along with the No. 9 safety in the country and the No. 79 overall player in the land.
The word “family” is a big one for Sieg.
“They always made me feel like a part of their family, and it really just always felt like home,” he told NSN after his commitment in November. “So we decided to pull the trigger and we’re happy with our decision.”
So what did Frankin and Penn State’s coaching staff have to do to woo Sieg?
“It wasn’t so much that they had to do anything,” he said. “They were the first team to jump into my recruitment, they were the first team that offered me. How they recruited me never changed. It was always real and it never changed. I think that was what really set them apart from a number of other schools is just how real they kept it, how consistent they were.”
“In any instance I’ve had where they’ve told me something, it’s ended up happening. We’ve kind of developed great relationships with them and feel that we can certainly trust them. So that was big for us.”
