In news that shouldnโt be surprising to anybody, Penn State wrestling is once again a finalist for Bo Bassett.
Per Christian Pyles of FloWrestling, The No. 1 Class of 2026 prospect is down to Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Penn State, less than 24 hours after de-committing from Iowa, where he had been committed for more than four months.
Penn State and Oklahoma State were both in Bassettโs initial final four before he decided to commit to Iowa. Nebraska wasnโt, and Bassett is also apparently not considering Virginia Tech, which had been a finalist. Led by the animated Mark Manning, Nebraska has long been one of the top programs in the country, and finished second to Penn State at this yearโs national championships. Nebraska is also the only school on Bassettโs list that he hasnโt visited yet.
BASSETTโS CREDENTIALS
With a year still to go in his high school career, Bassett has already established himself as one of the best ever. Through three seasons at Bishop McCort (Johnstown, PA), Bassett has wrestled 126 matches and losses none of them.
Thatโs right.
126 wins. 0 losses.
Bassett is a two-time state champ, winning at the 139-pound weight class in 2024 and at 145 this past winter.
Also this past winter, Bassett won the Ironman championship at 144 pounds, tech-falling six straight opponents. Yeah, Bo Bassett is good at wrestling.
REUNITED?
It shouldnโt be a surprise that McCort is a school Penn Stateโs familiar with, considering that it is indeed in Pennsylvania.
Although Bassettโs most prominent teammate, No. 2 overall recruit Jax Forrest, is committed to Oklahoma State, Penn State wrestling does have a commit from McCortโs Sam Herring, ranked No. 27 overall.
A lot of eyes will be on what Bassett decides.
