One of Penn State football’s toughest 2025 opponents has lost one of its top weapons.
It’s not clear how long Evan Stewart will be out but Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported Friday morning that Stewart has suffered an injury that “feared to be significant.”
If the injury is significant, missing games isn’t out of the question for Stewart, and that would include Oregon’s trip to Happy Valley.
Penn State takes on Oregon early in the season, Sept. 30.
Although that’s still almost four months away, it’s indeed fair to wonder if Stewart will be able to go, and if he is, how healthy he’d be.
The White Out Stays at Night: Details For Penn State Football’s Spectacle Revealed
STEWART’S IMPACT
So what is Stewart’s impact for Oregon? Well, it isn’t marginal. Stewart has been a solid Power Four receiver for a while dating back to his days at Texas A&M, and his first year in Eugene didn’t disappoint. Stewart ended 2024 with 613 yards and five touchdowns on 48 receptions, helping Oregon to a Big Ten Championship in its first year in the league. With Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holdon off to the NFL, Stewart would have been Oregon’s top returning receiver. Now, that’s in question.
Oregon is also in transition because its QB, Heisman finalist Dillon Gabriel, is also departed.
Life without Stewart would make things that much more difficult for coach Dan Lanning and company, especially against a team like Penn State.
WHITE OUT

With or without Stewart, Oregon has its hands full Sept. 30. One of the most talented Penn State teams in recent memory— maybe ever— will be waiting for the Ducks at night in White Out conditions.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 on NBC. Both teams are expected to be in the top ten, if not the top five.
