Former Penn State tight end Tyler Warren has agreed to a four-year $20.96 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts, according to league sources. The Colts spent the No. 14 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to secure Warren. Warrenโs contract includes an $11.88 million signing bonus.
Warren came to Penn State as a quarterback from Mechanicsville, Virginia and morphed into a 6-foot 5-inch 260 pound tight-end who rewrote Penn Stateโs receiving record book not only by a tight end by overall including wide receivers.
After starting his Penn State career as a fullback and shifting to tight end, Warren spent time behind Brenton Strange, Pat Friermuth, and Theo Johnson before his 2024 breakout.
Warren was the lone bright spot in the Penn State passing game a season ago, setting a program record and leading the Big Ten with 104 receptions.
Other program records that Warren set for tight ends include career receptions (153), receiving yards (1,839), receiving touchdowns (19), 100+ yard games (5), total touchdowns (23), and yards per reception (12.0).
Warrenโs signature performance came against USC last season where Warren matched the FBS record with 17 receptions in a game. Warren also set a Penn State and Big Ten record with 224 yards receiving that included 5 receptions of 20 or more yards.ย
Warrenโs signature play occurred in the same contest as he snapped the ball to quarterback Beau Pribula who double passed it to quarterback Drew Allar who connected with Warren for a 32-yard reception.
The Colts expectations for Warren is to be a franchise piece at tight end. A season ago, the Colts finished with 39 total completions to tight ends, the lowest in the NFL.
