Philadelphia– Luke Lilledahl is a true freshman who’s seeded first at 125 pounds in this week’s NCAA Wrestling championships.

He looked a lot more like the latter than he did the former in his first match.

Facing the No. 32 seed in Cornell’s Marcello Milani– who got there by virtue of beating Michigan State’s Caleb Weiand in the “pigtail match” earlier in the afternoon– Lilledahl didn’t have much trouble.

He took care of Milani with a 19-4 tech fall, finishing it off late in the second period. So far, Lilledahl is following his Big Ten Title run– where he won the whole thing and even majored then-No. 1 Matt Ramos from Purdue– pretty well.

We’ll see what happens over the next two days, but right now, Lilledahl looks like the man.
