In recruiting news, a big-time Class of 2026 wrestling target has picked David Taylor and Oklahoma State over Cael Sanderson and Penn State.
Taylor, of course, is a Penn State legend who won two Hodge Trophies while in school and then an Olympic Gold Medal out of school.
But now heโs the boss at Oklahoma State, and he just landed a commitment from Dreshaun Ross, the No. 3 Class of 2026 prospect per FloWrestling.

Ross had Penn State as a finalist along with Iowa, Iowa State and Oklahoma State. Ross comes from a wrestling-mad state of Iowa, where heโs won two state titles.
DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC?

Penn Stateโs domination of the wrestling world (11 national titles in 13 years) has no end in sight but people are wondering if โThe Magic Manโ will change that. Taylor is one of the best American wrestlers of all time, and when his mentor, Sanderson (also a pretty good wrestler) got into coaching, it turned out he was just as good at that as he was competing. Time will tell ย if Taylor produces anything resembling what Penn State wrestling has turned into, but if he does, getting recruits like Ross will be a big reason. Oklahoma Stateโs Class of 2026 also has Kellen Wolbert, whoโs ranked No. 22 overall. OSUโs 2025 Class has three of the top six wrestlers.
So, yeah, thereโs some talent coming to Stillwater.
WHAT WILL BO BASSETT DECIDE?
In more wrestling recruiting news, Penn State and Oklahoma State are two of the seven finalists for Bassett, the No. 1 overall recruit in the Class of 2026. Bassett will announce his decision Tuesday on FloWrestling.
Bassett, an in-state star from Bishop McCorut, was at Penn Stateโs dual meet against Iowa Friday night in the Bryce Jordan Center.
