In transfer portal news, a former Penn State defender who entered earlier this week has signed with Rutgers.

Transfer Portal Update: Penn State Losing Key Defender, Per Report

Per a report by Pete Nakos of On3Sports, Cam Miller has signed with Rutgers after three seasons with Penn State.

This is the second time in as many days Rutgers has made this Penn State outletโ€™s headline.

Wednesday morning, Class of 2026 receiver Elias Coke from Harrisburg, who was favored to commit to Penn State, announced that he has committed to Rutgers.

Now, Miller, who knows the Big Ten well, is moving from PA to Piscataway.

Miller was a key contributor to Penn Stateโ€™s secondary this season.

MILLERโ€™S CONTRIBUTIONS

Penn State DB Cam Miller was a key contributor before entering the transfer portal.

Miller started four games for Penn State and played 416 snaps per Pro Football Focus, good for fifth among Penn Stateโ€™s defensive backs. Miller is known for his blitzing ability. Although he only had one sack in 2024, he had three in 2023, which was good for second in the nation amongst cornerbacks.

Unfortunately for Miller, one of his last plays at Penn State was one to forget. In the Orange Bowl/College Football Playoff semifinal, a 54-yard pass from Riley Leonard to Jaden Greathouse tied the game. On that play, Miller slipped when guarding Greathouse, allowing him to break free for what turned into the game-tying score.

But Miller has a chance to finish his college career strong in what will be his last season of eligibility.

RETURN OF THE MACK

Could King Mack, who entered the transfer portal Friday, Jan. 3, 2024, return to Penn State?

Penn State defensive backs Zion Tracy, King Mack, and Elliot Washington II sing the Penn State Alma Mater.

Part of the reason Miller left could well have been because of the return of the Mack.

On Sunday, King Mack announced that heโ€™s returning to Penn State.

Mack started his college career at Penn State as a true freshman in 2023.

In what looks to be his lone season at Alabama, Mack played in nine games on defense, totaling 106 snaps. 38 of those snaps came in the teamโ€™s loss at Tennessee Oct. 19.Aside from that, his season-high was just 19, which took place Week 1 in a 63-0 squeaker over Western Kentucky.

So itโ€™s fair to wonder if leaving Penn State was the right choice for Mack. but regardless, heโ€™s back now. And Miller is moving on.
