In what shouldnโt come as a surprise, Thursday nightโs Orange Bowl loss to Notre Dame will be the last game Abdul Carter plays for Penn State.
Per a report by ESPNโs Adam Schefter, Carter has declared for the NFL Draft.
In addition to that, Carter has hired super agent Drew Rosenhaus, along with Robert Bailey and Jason Rosenhaus, to represent him.

Per Schefter, Rosenhaus said that he expects Carter to โbe one of the top picks in the draft and a future All-Pro.โ Itโs hard to disagree with Rosenhaus. Abdul Carter was not only Penn Stateโs best defender, he was arguably the best in the country.
He became the first Penn State player in almost a decade to reach double-digit sacks (12) and leads in the nation in tackles for loss (22), doing all of it in his first season as a defensive end.
Earlier this month ahead of PSUโs first playoff game against SMU, Mustangsโ coach Rhett Lashlee said he was impressed with multiple of Carterโs teammates but agrees with everybody else that Penn Stateโs latest No. 11 is cut from a different cloth.
โThe other couple of ends (Dani Dennis-Suttonย andย Amin Vanover) are really special. If they didnโt have Abdul, weโd be worried about them. We are worried about them. But Abdul is so dominant,โ Lashlee said.โHeโs physical, he flies around and makes plays, and then they move him to defensive end this year, and heโs got as good a get-off as anybody in college football. Thereโsa reason heโs a top-five, top-10 pick in the upcoming draft. And on top of it, our tackles have to deal with the noise of trying to hear the snap count, and so thereโs a lot of things in his favor that he doesnโtneed, on top of the fact that heโsjust probably as talented a pass rusher as there is.
โBut thatโs not all he is. Heโs an all-around player, and what really stands out to me is his motor. He plays the game the right way. You got a lot of respect for how hard he plays. Heโll chase down plays from the backside. So just like we got issues with Tyler Warren and a lot of other guys on their offense, weโvegot some we got our work cut out for us on their defensive front and really their overall team speed on defense.โ
Carterโs last gameโ which he played with a shoulder injuryโ was dominant. In Penn Stateโs Orange Bowl/College Football Playoff semifinal loss to Notre Dame, Carter had five tackles (three solo) and a sack.
