Update (8:36 p.m.)โ€” Itโ€™s official.

A Penn State quarterback is expected to enter the transfer portal, per a report by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Beau Pribula, the Pride of York, Pennsylvania, played at Penn State for three seasons, getting his most extensive playing time in 2024.

In first-year coordinator Andy Kotelnickiโ€™s offense, Pribula was used as a quarterback, running back and receiver.

He appeared in all 12 of Penn Stateโ€™s regular-season games plus the Big Ten Championship against Oregon Saturday, Dec. 7.

Pribula will have two years of eligibility left wherever he decides to play. In his time at Penn State, he was became a fan favorite.

A separate report by Pete Nakos of On3Sports said that itโ€™s expected Pribula wonโ€™t be available for Penn Stateโ€™s College Football Playoff run.

BEAUโ€™S FINEST HOUR

Penn State fans will miss Beau Pribula, whoโ€™s expected to enter the transfer portal after three seasons.

Beau Pribula rushes for his eventual first half touchdown.

Pribulaโ€™s finest hour took place Oct. 26 at Wisconsin.

Starting QB Drew Allar got hurt late in the first half, and with Penn State down 10-7 at the half, somebody needed to step up.

On defense, that guy was Jaylen Reed, whose Pick 6 gave Penn State a lead it wouldnโ€™t lose.

On offense, Pribula was that guy. He went 11-for-13 for 98 yards and a touchdown. The next week, Allar was fine and Pribula went back into his Swiss Army Knife role. But for the second half of that Madison night, Pribula was the man for Penn State. If Pribula wasnโ€™t sharp, who knows if Penn State beats Wisconsin? If Penn State doesnโ€™t beat Wisconsin, it isnโ€™t in the College Football Playoff.

THE GOOD NEWS

Penn State QB Drew Allarโ€™s two interceptions were costly in Penn State footballโ€™s 45-37 loss to Oregon in the Big Ten championship game Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Pribula not getting a chance to live out his dream as his childhood schoolโ€™s full-time starting QB is a shame for a few reasons. But the bright side for Penn State is that Pribula apparently entering the transfer portal it could be an indicator that Allar, who has the option to declare for the NFL Draft, will instead be back for 2025. Nothing is official yet.

Penn State has its first-ever College Football Playoff game scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21 at noon against SMU on TNT/HBO Max at Beaver Stadium.
