The broadcast crew for New Year’s Eve’s Fiesta Bowl between Penn State and Boise State have been revealed and it features a Pitt grad.

Louis Riddick, who played at Pitt in the late 1980s before playing in the NFL for nearly a decade and spending another decade-plus as a scout/executive, now works for ESPN and will be part of the Fiesta Bowl’s TV crew.

Riddick will be the color commentator.

Bob Wischusen will be on play-by-play. Kris Budden will be the sideline reporter. This will be the first time Penn State has been on ESPN all season since ESPN no longer has the rights to Big Ten games.

THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN

Penn State will take on Minnesota Nov. 22 at 3:30 on CBS.

Penn State-Boise State is unique for a number of reasons. It will be the first time the schools have ever played against each other, the first time either team has played in a College Football Playoff quarterfinal and in a bowl game where neither program has ever lost. Penn State is 7-0 in Fiesta Bowls. Boise State is 3-0. It will also be unique because, of the four College Football Playoff quarterfinals, it will be the only one played on New Year’s Eve, not New Year’s Day. Much like the first round of the playoff, where Notre Dame and Indiana played Friday, Dec. 20, and the other three games were played Dec. 21, the three remaining quarterfinal games will be played Jan. 1. No. 1 Oregon plays No. 8 Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, No. 2 Georgia plays No. 7 Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl and No. 4 Arizona State plays No. 5 Texas in the Peach Bowl.

THE OTHER CREWS

College GameDay is coming to Penn State for the first time since 2021.
