Penn State handled Purdue with relative ease Saturday afternoon in a 49-10 win in West Lafayette, Ind. and tight end Tyler Warren put together a performance he’s come to be known for this season.
Warren’s athleticism was on full display. He was the game’s leading rusher and receiver with 63 yards and 127 yards respectively. Of those 127 receiving yards an astounding 96 were after the catch.
It’s yet another performance in his record setting season that has helped propel Penn State to victory and another that puts him further in the conversation of a trip to New York City for the Heisman Ceremony in a few weeks.
For Penn it was win No. 9 on the season and keeps it well within reach of securing a home playoff game, and it was more than just Tyler Warren that helped them to their big win.
ALLAR OUT OF THIS WORLD

Photo by Penn State Athletics: Drew Allar
Quarterback Drew Allar has put together an impressive second season as a starter at Penn State and Saturday was another notch in the season belt.
Allar was 17-for-19 for 247 yards and three touchdowns against the Boilermakers. It was as flawless of a game as had been seen from Allar this season and was exactly what Penn State needed against Purdue. Allar made sure the game was never in doubt and found three ย receivers for those touchdowns.
Along with Warren, Allar hit Kaytron Allen and Harrison Wallace III for scores. He added 22 yards on four carries while only playing about 2 and a half quarters due to the score.
Of course, this was against a Purdue team that is simply not good this year, but that level of efficiency is spectacular no matter who the opponent is. Penn State needs Allar to be his best ball going into December and potentially beyond.
THA CARTER
Abdul Carter was once again a menace for the opposing offense.
Carter recorded five total tackles in only three quarters, including two tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry. It was another quality performance from Carter despite getting routinely double-teamed by the Boilermakers.
In a shocking turn of events, Carter drew a holding penalty which seems to be a rare occurrence against many opponents.
PRESENT MEETS FUTURE
With the game getting out of hand early, Penn State was able to get nearly 70 different players into the game, many of them being younger players looking to make a name for themselves.
Wide receiver Tyseer Denmark saw game action and showed some prowess as a returner in his first true action of the season.
Luke Reynolds showed that it’s not just Warren who can play solid football as a tight end. He hauled in three passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.
With so few of games left this season, players under the redshirt threshold can get significant time and doing so against teams like Purdue gives them a leg up in preparations for the post season.
