UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State defense had one bad play against the Maryland Terrapins Saturday evening in their 44-7 drubbing at Beaver Stadium.
It came on the first play of the game for the Terrapins on offense and resulted in a 25-yard touchdown pass.

From there, it was all Penn State and in a monstrous way.
The defense allowed 164 total yards after that touchdown, forced three turnovers and recorded six sacks.
They were far from the only highlight for Penn State on this evening.
HITTING THE POSE
Abdul Carter was a man possessed against the Terrapins and it paid off in a big way for Penn State. Carter recorded two sacks to go along with six tackles. He was constantly in the face of Maryland QB MJ Morris and helped pave the way for a dominant performance by the Penn State defense.
After this third quarter sack, Carter hit the most famous pose in college football.
Abdul Carter with an inside move is truly a terrifying prospect. He’s turning into a complete defensive end. pic.twitter.com/bxUH8WfK6T

It’s worth noting that this is Carter’s first year as a defensive end and it has paid large dividends for Penn State as he’s now racked up 10 sacks on the season, the first PSU player to notch double-digit sacks since Carl Nassib had 15.5 in 2015.
RECORD-SETTING WARREN
Tyler Warren didn’t eclipse the 1,000-yard receiving plateau, but he did set career records for career touchdown receptions (17) and career receptions for a tight end.
Warren finished the game with six receptions for 68 yards putting him just 22 yards shy of breaking 1,000 yards. He also hauled in a touchdown reception as well as 32 yards on the ground— 29 on this play— and had nine yards through the air.

PLAYING NEXT WEEK
With Michigan’s upset over Ohio State in The Game, a door to the Big Ten Championship was opened. Penn State slammed that door down and will be facing Oregon for the Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis next Saturday at 8 p.m.
It was the dominant performance PSU needed to round out the regular season as they head into the postseason with now another game to play.
