Anything can happen in college football but if Penn State somehow loses at Purdue, that would shock even those who claim to have seen it all.
Penn State is 8-1.
Purdue is 1-8.
Penn State is ranked No. 4 in the country.
Purdue might not even be the fourth-best team in Indiana. Even though Penn State is playing in an environment where top-five teams have struggled in the past, PSU losing this game seems about as likely as Drew Brees being granted an extra year of college eligibility.
Penn State is also set to have one of its best players ready to go.
HEโS BACKKKKKK
Penn State doesnโt need Nicholas Singleton to beat Purdue (again, Purdue is very bad). But it will need him to make a deep College Football Playoff run, so Penn State fans should have been smiling when coach James Frankin said after practice Wednesday that he expected Singleton to be good to go for Saturday.
Singleton, who has rushed for 543 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry, didnโt touch the ball for the last nine-plus minutes of Saturdayโs 35-6 win over Washington and wasnโt seen on the sideline.
In Franklinโs postgame presser , he was asked about Singletonโs status. Anybody who has ever listened to Franklin talk about injuries probably has a good idea of what he saidโ not muchโ but he did seem to confirm that Singleton is hurt.
Fortunately, it doesnโt appear to be too serious.
