The 6’3″, 220-pound defensive end gave his commitment to Penn State back on June 24th, selecting the Nittany Lions over other offers from Oklahoma, Texas A&M, USC, Baylor, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, SMU, Tennessee and Texas.
Granville is a consensus Top 200 recruit and was one of the top five highest ranked players in Penn State’s current Class of 2025.
Being able to pull a recruit of Granville’s talent from the talent rich state of Texas, along with the NIL opportunities he could have chosen else, was a major win for Penn State. Aside from Penn State, Granville took official visits to Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and USC.
Instead of waiting a year, defensive coordinator Tom Allen and his staff will have the chance to work with him this season and see if he’s able to make an immediate impact.
Heading into the start of camp, Penn State’s current depth chart at defensive end includes Abdul Carter, Amin Vanover, Jameial Lyons, Mylachi Williams, Dani Dennis-Sutton, Mason Robinson, Jaylen Harvey, Joseph Mupoyi, Smith Vilbert, Bobby Mears and Jordan Mayer. Penn State has had a history of solid defensive end play, with Chop Robinson going in the first round of this yearโs draft and Adisa Isaac going in the fourth. Deion Barnesโ first season as DL coach was a smash hit, largely because of the defensive ends.
With Granville advancing his timeline, Penn State’s current recruiting class now has 21 members, three of which are defensive ends- 3-star Lavar Arrington II (Covina, California), 4-stary Jayden Woods (Shawnee, Kansas) and 3-star Cortez Harris (Upper Marlboro, Maryland).
