Everybody following Penn State wrestling knew Aaron Brooks was going to get the job done.
He did just that, tech falling Iowa’s Zach Glazier in the championship match at the 197-pound weight class.
Glazier was the only wrestler Brooks faces in the regular season that he didn’t get a bonus-point win against.
When the two met at Carver-Hawkeye Arena last month, Brooks won, but only by decision, 5-1. This match was a little more lopsided, and by winning, Brooks joined elite company.
He’s now one of 18 Big Ten wrestlers to win four conference titles and one of three Penn State wrestlers to do it. The other two are Ed Ruth, who won three national titles, and David Taylor, who won two national titles and two Hodge trophies before becoming an Olympic Gold Medalist.
Brooks is now looking to become a four-time national champ, which no Penn State wrestler has done before, and an Olympic medalist, where he’ll likely have to get through Taylor.
