It’s been well over 24 hours since Ole Miss beat Penn State in the 2023 Peach Bowl.
But Ole Miss was sure to keep having fun on social media.
The bowl game got quite interesting within the last 12 hours before kickoff due to a bizarre troll account on X (formerly Twitter) that was reveled to belong to an Ole Miss student assistant (head coach Lane Kiffin himself confirmed it in his postgame presser).
Kiffin has been known to have fun on social media, and he took another opportunity to do so New Year’s Eve. The catalyst was Ole Miss receiver Dayton Wade.
“Wait, Penn State actually thought they was gone win?” Wade, who caught three passes for 61 yards, posted to X (formerly Twitter) New Year’s Evening.
Kiffin responded:
“5 1/2 point favorites son,” in an obvious reference to the spread coming into the game.

Oh, that Lane.
When Kiffin admitted to an Ole Miss student assistant creating the troll account, he didn’t exactly express any remorse, even though the account was responsible for a false quote attributed to Penn State linebacker Kobe King.
I was made aware of that,” Kiffin said. “I’m glad we won so you wouldn’t be bringing that up in the press conference and they’d be saying that motivated them.”
Kiffin thought the whole thing was “pretty funny”.
