Michigan QB J.J McCarthy probably knew he’d get a lot of reaction by sending a one-word post on X the day before his team’s game against Penn State at Beaver Stadium.
He probably didn’t expect Tom Brady to respond to it.
At 5:14 p.m., McCarthy wrote this:
“Bet.”
— Tom Brady (@TomBrady) November 10, 2023
He didn’t mention what he was referring to, but it seems obvious that it was a reaction to the news of the Big Ten suspending Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh for the team’s last three regular-season games, starting at Penn State. The icon and former Michigan QB wasn’t the only one who responded to the current Michigan QB. Current Michigan players such as Zak Zinter, Kris Jenkins and Trevor Keegan also quoted McCarthy.

Former and current Penn State players joined the fun as well.
Among them were former QB and current Packer Sean Clifford, former safety and current Bear Jaquan Brisker, former defensive tackle Fred Hansard and current defensive tackle Zane Durant.

A five-star recruit from the Class of 2021, McCarthy is in his second season as Michigan’s starter. He’s developed into one of college football’s best quarterbacks. Through nine games this season, McCarthy’s thrown 18 touchdowns and just three interceptions with 2,134 passing yards. His QBR of 92.3 is second in the country.
This will be McCarthy’s second start against Penn State. Last year, he went 17-24 for 145 yards and a touchdown. Michigan won, 41-17, and went onto win the Big Ten and make the College Football Playoff for the second straight season, where it fell to TCU in the semifinal.
Penn State and Michigan are scheduled to kickoff at noon on Fox.
