UNIVERSITY PARK— Penn State has released its weekly availability report for Saturday’s game against Indiana.
As expected, star defensive end Chop Robinson won’t play.
Robinson, who is projected by many to be a first-round pick in the 2024 Draft, got hurt in the second quarter of last week’s loss at Ohio State.
Chop might not be the only defensive end missing for Penn State Saturday. Amin Vanover is listed questionable. If those two are out, players such as Zuriah Fisher and maybe even true freshman Jameial Lyons could get more chances to shine. Penn State’s defensive ends have been one of the team’s strengths in 2023, to the point where coordinator Manny Diaz would put three of them on the field siamotainously. But today, that depth will be put to the test. The good news is that Indiana is a good opponent for Penn State to be short handed against.
IU is 2-5 overall and 0-5 against Power Five competition.
Its only two wins came against Indiana State and Akron, the latter of which took two overtimes.
This has been a series that Penn State’s dominated historically.
The teams have been playing annually since 1993, and Indiana is 2-28 against Penn State, with no wins in Beaver Stadium.
Today, Penn State’s a 32-point favorite. It’s the biggest spread Penn State’s had to this point against Power Five teams in 2023.
Elsewhere on the availability report, true freshman Andrew Rappleyea is out for the second straight week. The newcomer got some playing time against UMass, even helping fellow TE Theo Johnson score a touchdown with his blocking.
