Penn State fans might have to start getting used to unconventional kickoff times with the latest news about its Oct. 31 game against Purdue.
Usually, Penn State will either play at noon (eastern time), 3:30 or 7:30.
But the Purdue game has been scheduled for 4:15 on the Big Ten Network.
This is the second time this season the Penn State has had a home game scheduled at an unconventional time. Penn State’s Sept. 26 game against Wisconsin was scheduled for 5:00 on Peacock. At least for this one, fans won’t have to worry about buying a subscription to watch, and they’ll be hoping for a much better result, too.
Penn State led Wisconsin 17-0 in the first half, and in the second half, led by 10 with a 98.5 percent win probability per ESPN. But Penn State lost the game, and hasn’t recovered, losing the next three to put itself at 3-4 overall and 0-4 in the Big Ten.
Being winless in conference play come late October is something Purdue fans are used to far more than Penn State fans. The Boilers have been conference bottom-feeders multiple times over the years, and were expected by many to be there again this season. But Purdue has surprised people, having upset Illinois on the road and then pounded Minnesota by 28 at home in consecutive weeks. Although Purdue did lose at Washington this past Friday night, the Boilers have shown themselves to not be pushovers.
Purdue will be Penn State’s next game, with this week being the team’s bye. It will also be interesting to see if PSU’s top receiver, Koby Howard, returns.
