One of Penn State football’s greatest players of the 21st century has issued an apology for comments he made regarding the health of Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts.
“He’s pulling himself out, so this doesn’t look like it’s on me,” Robinson said Thursday on NFL Network. “If I’m Jalen Hurts or anybody in the Jalen Hurts’ camp, I’m saying ‘if everybody is hurt, then I’m hurt, too’. I would advise all of our viewers to go Google ‘superficial blood clot’ as opposed to a real blood clot.”
Four days later, it came out that Hurts would miss the rest of the season due to blood clots discovered in his lungs.
Robinson issued an apology on social media.
“I want to sincerely apologize to Jalen Hurts, his family, the Philadelphia Eagles organization and fanbase for my comments last Thursday,” Robinson wrote. “They were unfounded and I never should have speculated on a health issue of a player nor his commitment to his team.”
Robinson has been with the NFL Network since 2014, joining after his eight-year pro career ended. He spent the first four years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers (2006-2009) and the last four with the Seattle Seahawks (2010-2013), where he made a Pro Bowl 2011 and won a Super Bowl in his last season.
Penn State fans remember Robinson best for what he did in 2005, leading PSU to one of its best seasons ever. Penn State had won seven games combined over the previous two seasons, and won 11 in 2005, finishing No. 3 in the country.
