UNIVERSITY PARK— Next week’s showdown between Penn State and Ohio State in Columbus will be ESPN College GameDay’s featured game, Ohio State announced Saturday evening.

This will be the first time a Penn State game has been featured on GameDay since September 2021, when College GameDay came to Happy Valley for Penn State-Auburn.

It will also be the 25th time Penn State’s been on GameDay overall and the 58th time Ohio State has been, which leads all schools. Penn State’s 10-14 in GameDay games and Ohio State’s 39-18. This will also be the 12th time Penn State and Ohio State have been GameDay’s featured game, which will surpass Alabama-LSU for the most all time. Penn State and Ohio State have had some notable GameDay meetings. Before the 1996 meeting in Columbus was the first time Lee Corso ever put on his signature mascot head, in this case Brutus the Buckeye.

GameDay was in Happy Valley for the 2005 Penn State-Ohio State matchup. It was halftime when panelist Kirk Herbstreit called Penn State’s student section the “best in the country” and described it as “crazy.” Three years later, GameDay was in Columbus ahead of what turned into a 13-6 grinder of a win for Penn State. Fast forwarding to the James Franklin era, GameDay came to Columbus in 2017, when Penn State coughed up a two-touchdown lead late.

PSU will look for a much better result Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon on Fox.
