In a week that’s been filled with bad news for Penn State basketball, Penn State sports fans got some good news Saturday afternoon when Luke Reynoldds announced his commitment to the football program via Twitter.

Reynolds (‘24) is a three-star tight end from Cheshire Academy in Connecticut.
Penn State offered him last week. Among other schools to offer Reynolds were Boston College, Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Pitt, Stanford, Syracuse, Temple, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.
After visiting Penn State last week and attending a practice, Reynolds told 247Sports that the “energy and intensity” even during a practice caught his eye.
“It made for a great, competitive environment,” Reynolds said. “(Tight ends) coach (Ty) Howle does a great job with his group and has a great relationship with each tight end.”
Reynolds was also impressed with Penn State’s facilities, telling 247 they were “beautiful.”
“They have a great setup and situation over there,” he said.
Penn State has a “great setup and situation” at tight end, too. Despite losing Brenton Strange to the NFL Draft, Penn State’s future at the position looks promising. The team returns Theo Johnson (20 catches, 328 yards, four touchdowns in 2022), the versatile Tyler Warren, up-and-comer Khalil Dinkins and Jerry Cross, a four-star ‘22 signee who didn’t get much of a chance to show what he could do last season due to injury.
Penn State also signed four-stars Andrew Rappleyea, Joey Schlaffer and Mega Barnwell to its ‘23 Class.
Reynolds is the fifth player to commit to Penn State’s 24 class and the third from outside Pennsylvania. Four-star OL Cooper Cousins (McDowell High School) and four-star linebacker Anthony Speca (Pittsburgh Central Catholic) are both in-state products, as is four-star CB Kenneth Woseley (Philadelphia). Four-star linebacker Kari Jackson (West Bloomfield, Michigan) is from out-of state.
