PSU is in the running along with BYU, California, Jackson State, South Florida, Texas A& M and Utah State for the JUCO WR Montgomery. He’s the No. 2 player in Hawaii, the No. 3 wide receiver in the junior college rankings and the No. 29 junior college player in the country according to 247Sports.
Montgomery is from Tacoma, Washington, and played high school football at Independent Community College.
Montgomery recorded 13 catches for 228 yards and three touchdowns this past season for Snow.
Montgomery is a bigger receiver that Penn State could use, although it added former NC State receiver Devin Carter from the transfer portal.
Carmelo Taylor is the only receiver signed to Penn State’s 2023 recruiting class, and Penn State is continuing to try to build on its receiver corps for the 2023 season. Penn State will have to replace Mitchell Tinsley (out of eligibility) and Parker Washington (NFL Draft). Penn State is set to return KeAndre Lambert-Smith, who had a Rose Bowl record 88-yard touchdown reception in Monday’s Rose Bowl win over Utah.
Penn State’s had success developing players from the junior college ranks with Jaquan Brisker being a leading candidate for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and Ji’Ayir Brown figuring to have a lengthy NFL career.
