With PJ Mutsipher, Dvon Ellies and Coziah Izzard set to return at defensive tackle, Adisa Issac looking to come back from injury at defensive end and Nick Tarburton still having eligibility at that position and the arrival of newly-christened composite five-star recruit Dani Dennis-Sutton, Penn State seems to be in a good spot at defensive line.
But the Nittany Lions want more depth, and they’re searching the transfer portal to find it.
Earlier this week, Penn State offered now-former Miami of Ohio defensive end Kam Butler, and now, the program has extended an offer to twins Gabriel and Grayson Murphy out of North Texas.

After redshirting his freshman season and spending most of 2020 in a reserve role— still managing 4.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss— Gabriel Murphy became a full-time starter for the Mean Green this past fall. His performance earned him a second-team spot on Pro Football Focus’s all-ConferenceUSA team. Murphy ended the 2021 season with seven sacks 12 tackles for loss 52 tackles and three passes defended.
Grayson Murphy was a third-team all-conference selection by PFF. Like his brother, Grayson redshirted his freshman season. In 2020, he finished with three sacks in seven appearances, and in 2021, he blossomed, finishing the year with 8.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, 38 tackles, two forced fumbles and nine quarterback hurries.
Before starting his college football career, both twins were a three-star recruits out of Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas.
