Drew Allar and Nick Singleton were both established as five-stars by 247Sports. Now, a third Penn State signee from the 2022 recruiting class has joined in the fun.
Dani Dennis-Sutton, a celebrated defensive end from the McDonough School in Owings Mills, Maryland, was already a five-star in both Rivals.com’s rankings and in On3.com’s final On300 rankings. Now, 247 has him as a five-star as well in its final rankings for the 2022 recruiting cycle, and Sutton is one of three Nittany Lions with a composite five-star rating.
Dennis-Sutton rocketed up 70 spots to No. 18 in 247’s site rankings. Singleton moved from No. 18 to No. 16, and is still 247’s No. 1 running back, and Allar remained steady as the No. 3 overall player and No. 1 QB.
Dennis-Sutton is a 6-foot-5, 250-pound beast who will be joining an experienced defensive line group in 2022– a group that can load up even more if first-team all-MAC selection Kam Butler transfers in from Miami of Ohio. Allar is likely to sit behind returning quarterback Sean Clifford for at least the start of 2022, and of the three, Singleton seems most likely to make an immediate impact, with Penn State often struggling to run the ball in 2021.
This is the second time a Penn State recruiting class has had three composite five-stars. In 2018, Micah Parsons, Justin Shorter and Ricky Slade were all five stars. Ultimately, however, only Parsons reached his potential at Penn State, with the other two transferring.
