Penn State has featured one of the top secondaries in the nation this season, veteran leadership micing with youthful upside to create a lockdown unit. Further reinforcements could be on the way.
2023 five-star cornerback Jahlil Hurley from Florence High School in Florence, Alabama announced Sunday night via Twitter that the Nittany Lions have made his Top 8. Hurley (6-foot-3, 170 pounds) narrowed down an expansive offer sheet to Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Texas A&M, Auburn and Penn State.

Hurley is a tall, rangy corner that has flashed excellent coverage and tackling skills during his time at Florence. He’s able to use his size to make an impact in run defense, but he’s fast and athletic enough to shadow running backs, wide receivers and tight ends.
His performance against Muscle Shoals High School in August highlighted his versatility, in racking up 194 all-purpose yards, two touchdowns, a two point conversion and 18 takles (11 solo).

247Sports rates Hurley as the 26th-ranked recruit in his class, the fifth-ranked cornerback and the 4th-ranked recruit from Alabama. Rivals ranks him as the 38th-ranked recruit in the class, the fourth-ranked cornerback and recruit from Alabama.
As a junior, neither 247Sports nor Rivals has officially projected Hurley yet. According to both, he hasn’t made any official visits yet either.
