After a tremendous day in which three 4-star recruits gave verbal commitments, Penn State has climbed up to No. 3 in the national recruiting rankings for the class of 2022.
The Nittany Lions enjoyed an explosive Fourth of July on Sunday, landing commitments from three defensive linemen:
** Zane Durant (6-1, 251) from Orlando was first to commit Sunday. He visited Penn State on June 18.
** Tyreese Fearbry (6-5, 255) from Pittsburgh followed in the afternoon. He visited June 18.
** Kaleb Artis (6-4, 290) from New York closed the day with an evening commitment. He visited June 11.
Penn State now has 17 commits for its class of 2022. The Lions have been ranked in the top 10 for some time, and the latest haul has moved them up near the top of the nation in the 247Sports team rankings. Here’s a look at those rankings:
1: Ohio State — The Buckeyes are absolutely crushing it in this class, with four 5-star commits, nine 4-stars and two 3-stars. They have 15 commits so far.
2: Notre Dame — The Fighting Irish don’t have any 5-star commits, but they have 11 4-stars, giving them a great class. They also have seven 3-stars.
3: Penn State — The Lions still don’t have a 5-star commit, but they now have nine 4-stars to go along with six 3-stars.
4: Florida State — The Seminoles have two 5-star commits, five 4-stars and eight 3-stars.
5: LSU — The Tigers have three 5-star commits, six 4-stars and two -stars.
In the Rivals rankings, the top five are: 1: Ohio State; 2: Notre Dame; 3: Florida State; 4: Penn State; 5: LSU.
