Penn State Injury Report: Four Key Contributors Game Time Decisions For Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich.  — Penn State could receive some much-needed reinforcements Saturday against Michigan, particularly on a defense that has struggled to contain opposing offenses in recent weeks.

The Nittany Lions listed four players as probable on Friday’s Big Ten availability report, including defensive end Yvan Kemajou, defensive tackle Armstrong Nnodim, linebacker Cam Smith and wide receiver Chase Sowell are listed as game time decisions in the final availability report released by the Big Ten.

Their potential availability comes at an important time for head coach Matt Campbell, whose team has struggled with consistency on both sides of the football.

Kemajou and Nnodim could provide a boost to Penn State’s defensive front, which faces another significant challenge against Michigan.

Penn State’s inability to consistently finish plays in the backfield has been an ongoing concern. Having both defensive linemen available would give the Nittany Lions additional options as they attempt to generate pressure and improve their performance against the run.

Smith’s probable designation is particularly encouraging given Penn State’s dwindling linebacker depth.

With Alex Tatsch officially ruled out, the Nittany Lions can ill afford additional losses at the position.

Offensively, Sowell’s designation offers some encouragement for quarterback Rocco Becht and a passing attack still searching for consistency.

However, Penn State will again be without wide receiver Koby Howard, removing another potential weapon from an offense that has struggled to establish rhythm.

The Nittany Lions listed 13 players as out, including multiple contributors along the defensive line and in the secondary.

Although the four probable designations provide some optimism, Penn State will enter Saturday’s matchup facing significant depth concerns.
