UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Those wondering where on Earth Penn State RB Quinton Martin, Jr. was last week were rewarded with a Martin sighting late in the first quarter.
Martin made his presence known with some powerful runs on his initial drive of the game including a 61-yard run which set up a Penn State field goal.

The redshirt sophomore running back racked up 70 yards on the ground that drive, but one of the most fascinating things with that run was the effort of quarterback Rocco Becht sprinting down the field with Martin trying to find someone to block.
That effort and attitude from Becht is what makes him a tremendous leader and that break-away speed is why some think Martin should be the featured back moving forward.

Offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser explained Martin’s absence.
Quinton had a great camp and is good enough to help our football team,” Mouser said, “and everything is being evaluated to help our pass game better and run game better. Quinton has earned the right to get touches in the offense.“
“It wasn’t a reflection of our lack of trust in Quinton or where he’s at. He’s good enough to help our football team, and we’re going to need that guy to make big plays in big moments this year. His time’scoming, and I have all the trust in him to go out there and play.“
