James Peoples Scores First Career PSU Touchdown

James Peoples hurdles Temple defender - Penn State Athletics

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – James Peoples has been a star throughout much of the first quarter being the RB1 for Matt Campbell’s Penn State Nittany Lions as they host the Buffalo Bulls from the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

Peoples, who transferred in from Ohio State, scored his first career touchdown on a 16-yard touchdown at the eight minute mark of the first quarter.

The Nittany Lions were on their first sustained drive of the game that saw them go six plays and 81 yards.

Peoples already has rushed for 35 yards in the first quarter, where he high as a Nittany Lion came against Temple last week where he had 42 yards on seven carries.

It was during that game Peoples had a highlight hurdle at Lincoln Financial Field that was a signature of former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley who plays at the same for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.

Barkley later went on social media and gave his seal of approval of Peoples play.

For much of this week, the Nittany Lion running game has been scrutinized for their lack of explosiveness and home run ability that was a calling card for the tandem of Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen who rewrote the school record book the last four seasons.

Peoples 16-yard touchdown run matched the longest run by a Nittany Lion running back this season with Cam Wallace until Quinton Martin Jr. had a 61-yard rush in the waning moments of the first quarter.
