A Penn State wrestling star has added an engagement to what’s already been, to quote Frank Sinatra, a “very good year.”
Josh Barr is less than a month removed from winning a national championship and finishing in the top three of the Hodge Trophy voting.
Now, he’s going to get married.
Barr proposed to his girlfriend, Olivia Orischak, and she said “yes.”

At one point, it looked like Barr would compete at 184 for Penn State, not 197.
But when Carter Starocci returned in 2024-25 to compete for— an ultimately win— an unprecedented fifth NCAA Division I championship, moving up from 174 to 184, Penn State had to find a different place for Barr in the starting lineup.
The results have been excellent. Barr came within one match of winning a national title in 2025. The next season, he went all the way, and made it look easy, going 24-0 with 23 wins being his bonus point.
“I went up (in weight), and the Lord’s faithful,”Barr told reporters after his national championship win. “Whether I went up in the starting lineup or I went up and had the success that I’ve had, the Lord’s faithful either way. So it was his plan, and back in high school, I probably would have told you that this was the furthest thing from the truth if you had told me this is what would have happened. But ever since I met Jesus, it all makes sense, because I see miracles happen that are way greater than this kind of stuff.”
Barr has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
