University Park, PA — Matt Campbell’s first full recruiting class is beginning to take shape as the new Penn State head coach strategically targets members of the 2027 cycle.
Campbell and his staff are focusing early on rising juniors they hope to secure commitments from during the Early Signing Period in December or in February 2027 once prospects complete their prep careers.
One of those rising juniors is Quince Orchard (Upper Marlboro, Maryland) defensive back Rico Jackson, who has scheduled an official visit to Penn State on June 12.
Jackson will visit with Campbell and cornerbacks coach Terry Smith as the Nittany Lions continue to build relationships with top defensive prospects in the region.

The Penn State visit marks the second major stop on Jackson’s early summer itinerary. He is also scheduled to visit Virginia Tech on June 5, where he will connect with former Penn State head coach James Franklin and the Hokies’ staff.
Jackson is a versatile two-way standout for Quince Orchard, a Maryland 4A powerhouse that finished 14-0 last season.
Quince Orchard ranks sixth in the Rivals composite rankings of top high school prospects in the state of Maryland.
At the collegiate level, Jackson projects as a defensive back, with the ability to play either cornerback or safety depending on scheme fit and development.
