Trio of Penn State Skaters Sweep Big Ten’s Stars of the Week

Charlie Cerrato celebrates victory in the NCAA Tournament - Penn State Athletics

Penn State men’s hockey claimed all three Big Ten Stars of the Week honors, as announced by the Big Ten Tuesday morning.

Senior defenseman Jarod Crespo earned First Star recognition, while sophomore forward Charlie Cerrato and junior forward Aiden Fink collected Second and Third Star honors, respectively, following standout performances in the Nittany Lions’ weekend series against RIT.

Crespo captured his first career weekly award after delivering a dominant third-period hat trick in Sunday’s 7–3 victory.

His three-goal outburst marked the 19th hat trick in program history and just the second ever by a Penn State defenseman.

It also represented the fourth hat trick of the season for the Nittany Lions, setting a new single-season program record. Crespo’s first goal stood as the game-winner, while his three goals and three points were both career highs.

With four goals and three assists this season, he is just three points shy of matching his career-best total from last year in nearly half the games.

Cerrato earned his second weekly honor of the season after recording a goal and two assists against RIT, marking his team-leading seventh multi-point performance this year and the 22nd of his career. He now ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 24 points, tied for 14th nationally, while his 18 assists place him among the conference and national leaders.

Fink received his first weekly award of the season after returning from an upper-body injury.

He opened the scoring Sunday with his third goal of the year and added an assist for his third multi-point effort of the season.

Fink now owns 41 career goals and sits just two points shy of joining Penn State’s 100-point club. He was also recently named to the Spengler Cup All-Star Team after leading the tournament in scoring.
