PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Penn State will be without defensive end Max Granville for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Head coach Matt Campbell announced following Penn State’s 27-9 victory over Temple on Saturday that Granville will miss the rest of the season.
Granville did not play against the Owls after appearing in Penn State’s season-opening victory over Marshall.
The 6-foot-3, 252-pound sophomore played 22 defensive snaps against the Thundering Herd, including six against the run and 16 as a pass rusher.
Granville did not record a tackle or sack in the opener but generated two quarterback pressures, including one hit and one hurry.

Granville entered the season as an important piece of Penn State’s defensive end rotation behind starter Ike Ezeogu. His season-ending absence will now force the Nittany Lions to find additional snaps elsewhere in the defensive front as Penn State moves into the heart of its schedule.
The loss is particularly significant given Granville’s potential for development throughout his sophomore season. After seeing action as a true freshman, Granville was positioned to take on a larger role in Penn State’s defense in 2026.
Penn State improved to 2-0 with Saturday’s victory over Temple and will return to Beaver Stadium to close its non-conference schedule against Buffalo.
