Penn State Wrestling Makes History Again With Win Over Rutgers

For Penn State wrestling coach Cael Sanderson, PSU football legend Saquon Barkley is “a beast.”

Penn State wrestling has made history yet again.

With its 46-0 dual meet win over No. 16 Rutgers, Penn State has now won 78 consecutive dual meets, which breaks the NCAA record set by Division II St. Cloud State, which won 2017 and 2022.

Penn State broke the Division 1 record, which Oklahoma State set between 1937 and 1951, last month at the National Collegiate Duals.

As usual, Penn State won in dominant fashion, with four bonus point wins— two major decisions, a pin and a tech fall— during the first five bouts giving PSU a commanding 22-0 lead at the intermission.

The dominance continued in the next five bouts, and now, Penn State looks ahead to its annual showdown with Iowa, which it takes on at Carver Hawkeye Arena next Friday night.

That bout is scheduled to begin at 7.
