Penn State has a chance to land one of the most coveted prospects in the class of 2027… again.
National recruiting analyst Brian Dohn of 247Sports posted an expert prediction on Saturday for Penn State to land five-star Pittsburgh running back Kemon Spell.
Spell originally committed to Penn State on August 2, 2024, after taking an unofficial visit on July 27.
On October 10, following a six-touchdown performance against Mars Area High School, the McKeesport running back said he was no longer 100% committed to the Nittany Lions.
“No I’m not. I’m not 100% with Penn State anymore… we’ll see from there,” Spell told Keith Barnes of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
He officially decommitted on October 12, the day Penn State fired James Franklin following three-straight losses after being the No. 2 team in the country.
Spell has received significant interest from Georgia, Notre Dame, and Miami, among others. Eric Thomas of IrishIllustrated.com posted a prediction for Notre Dame to receive a commitment from Spell on October 21.
At 5-foot-9 and 205 pounds, Spell is the No. 1 running back in the nation and No. 7 player overall, according to 247Sports.
There is plenty of time before final decisions need to be made, but it appears that Matt Campbell has quickly turned a corner for Penn State in re-recruiting high-priority players for the Nittany Lions.
