Penn State continued to add to its secondary as well as special teams through the transfer portal on Saturday, securing a commitment from former West Virginia safety Chris Fileppo.
Fileppo arrives in State College after spending his freshman season with the Mountaineers and becomes the second portal addition of the day for the Nittany Lions.
A Doylestown, Pennsylvania native, Fileppo brings intriguing size and versatility for the Nittany Lions.
The 6-foot-4, 208-pound safety appeared in all 12 games for West Virginia during the 2025 season, gaining valuable experience early in his collegiate career.
He logged 104 defensive snaps, with 46 of those coming primarily in coverage situations.
Fileppo finished the year with 12 total tackles and one tackle for a loss, showing flashes of physicality and range in limited defensive opportunities.
His most productive outing came against Texas Tech, where he recorded five tackles.
While his defensive reps were modest, Fileppo made a significant impact on special teams.
He participated in 139 special teams snaps for the Mountaineers, including 101 on kickoff coverage and return units, highlighting his willingness to contribute in multiple phases of the game.
Fileppo will arrive at Penn State with three years of eligibility remaining and now looks to develop within a deep, competitive safety room.
His combination of size, special teams experience, and remaining upside makes him a developmental addition with long-term potential for the Nittany Lions.
